Funny, I was just having a look at your site and the great pictures. Google translate tells me you're thinking of getting some foreign members for a ride next year?

 

I'm definitely interested in riding down to Greece for that. It's been my intention to visit your beautiful country again on my EFI Bullet for the last few years.

 

We're having our annual rally this weekend. Hoping to see about 20 bikes this year. Bit late to invite you - sorry! Its's every year at this time though.

You would like to know that you are the first foreign member in our community!  :bike:

We thank you for this honour!

 

It would be a nice idea to be able to organize something like that, especially if there are going to be people from other countries.

It will take some time and effort to do that but I guess it will be worth it.

 

ANyway, we would like to see how you spend your time in your annual rallies in your country.

Please, post a few links of your expeditions over there and perhaps we could swap our email addresses, as I think it's rather diffficult for you to navigate in a Greek site.

I just wonder, however, if one day there will be millions of us here and then there'll be no room for yourselves?

We'll then take over the site and make you pay huge amounts of tax or give us your islands to even read archived messages.

I found your site whilst looking at Enfield rally videos on YouTube. Somehow I saw one of yours and there was a link, so I checked out your message board. What pictures! I've been many times to Greece and these days the desire to ride down on my motorcycle becomes stronger with each passing year. I'm 52 now and the clock isn't going backwards! When I was younger, I travelled to Athens from Amsterdam on a bus on at least 5 occasions through  France, Italy and Yugoslavia. Crazy Greek bus drivers chain smoking the whole way and changing driver - when the bus was still moving.. Ahh too many memories.

 

So. That's enough bloody tourist nostalgia!

 

Here in Finland we have a nice owners' club. Quite typically Finnish. Only contact each other if something is broken and needs repairing. Just once a year with a "big" rally - The "King's Road Rally.". This year we're meeting in the pretty town of Hamina, on the south coast of Finland, between Helsinki and the Russian border. It's a town wehre, as you'll see, they seem to have a lot of dog shows.. Hmm.. Hope they're not the pretty girls we were hoping for..

Anyway. I'll let you know. The King's Road Rally is named thus, because we often ride parts of the old King's Road that in old times ran from Turku, in the south-west of Finland (nearest to Sweden) to St Petersburg (big place in Russia). This year we're well on track to do a big part of it and a ride around the beautiful coast roads near Hamina.

 

One thing we don't have here is and mountains. A few hills that I could even to this day go down on a skateboard, but nothing seriously steep, sadly. Still, Finland is a pretty place. Our bike season is so damn short. This year I wheeled-out in April - very early for us - and I'll probably have to put bike away again in early October, at the latest. SHIT!!

As for conquering Greece, just get in line or hurry up. 

Mrs Merkel from Deutchland has thought about that, long time ago and if you don't hurry up, there won't be anything left for you to take.

I am sure that you alone have visited Greece more times than we ALL together in the forum have visited Finland :(

If you ask any of us, we will say unfortunately for the above statement. 

 

We would love to visit your country preferably with our Enfields.

Even if you don't have any mountains at all. 

We will bring there some of ours. 

Or we can bring our skateboards. 

Whatever is handier, anyway :)

 

 

Our riding season is short, too, in Greece. 

It last only 12 months  a year and we usually have to winter store our bikes during the nights :)

Damn winter :cold:

 

We try hard though, to take advantage of our short riding season, taking quite often daily trips or short excursions, combined with a beer or a cup of  coffee etc.  :coffee:

So, we have created a strong group with not only RE Owners but friends, instead. 

 

 

 

The bus drivers you met during your trips to Greece, those specific ones you met were just incompetent. 

Usually, they do these swaps while  joggling, riding mono cycles and swallowing swords of fire, in the same time. 

You should see something like that at least once!!!!

 

 

Lately they are not allowed to smoke any more while driving. 

As for the rest (joggling etc.) the tradition keeps on :lol

For the next year, we are planning (not just the 1st European but) the 1st Universal REOC Meeting, held in Greece. 

We already have the first member from outside Greece, more specifically from Finland and there is interest from REOC Mars and REOC  Betelgeuse, pending for checking in. :)

Have you seen the new Bullet 500 for the intergalactic market?

I am sure that other English speaking members will chime in to contribute in our little conversation here, to make it more interesting, as I get quickly bored with what I write   :D

To be honest, this one could be really insulting for a lot of my friends and people I know. 

 

Well, I am much more humorous tolerant and I will take it as a rather failing attempt to be funny. 

Things are difficult in Greece but fortunately we haven't  got to be begging for food. 

Talking about food, you are well aware of the things you can taste in Greece, things you can't find anywhere else in the world. 

 

Even for things you find disgusting, such as Trachana and Patsa you mentioned in the shoutbox, there are people that find them really tasty and I am one of them. 

 

Anyway... 

If you insist about the sandwiches, make mine with some mayonnaise :)

Welcome to the club! I have a couple of musician friends from your parts, whom I met during their visit to Greece. Tuomas Saukkonen is one. I was hoping to return the visit, and on my bullet it would be great. Probably by the time I get 52... (!)
We have made european cross country travelling seem difficult and rare, whereas our fellows in America cover thousands of miles with the blink of an eye.
I really hope we meet in person and ride together, in your parts and in ours both.
